About Batroûn

Batroun is a laid-back port town set on a picturesque natural harbour. The atmospheric historic quarter charms visitors with its winding cobblestone streets and centuries-old buildings, many reimagined as cafes, bars and restaurants. Hip beach bars and day clubs make Batroun one of the top party destinations in Lebanon.

Things to do in Batroûn

Batroun was founded by a Phoenician king and has a rich history dating to the 2nd century AD. Get lost in the cobblestone streets of the old town, then stroll along the ruins of the ancient Sea Wall that was built to protect the city from storms and invasions.

You’ll love peering into beautifully preserved historic churches, such as St Stephens. The harbourside gem welcomes visitors with a handsome stone façade and soaring square towers. Our Lady of the Sea overlooks the harbour and features a sun-drenched terrace with gorgeous views.

On a hot day, there’s no better way to cool down than with a glass of icy cold lemonade. Flavoured with mint and sweetened with sugar, the beverage is a local delicacy sold at street stalls, cafes and restaurants across the town. Local restaurants serve some of the best Lebanese food in the country, including crunchy “kibbeh” croquettes made with spiced minced meat, toasted pine nuts and bulgur wheat.

Tours of Colonel Brewery take you behind the scenes of one of the most popular breweries in the Middle East. After your tour, visit the on-site restaurant to enjoy delicious Lebanese cuisine on outdoor picnic tables. At sunset, you can sip cocktails at one of the hip beachside bars.

Getting around Batroûn

The historic centre and harbourside district are pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. Taxis are a quick and comfortable way to travel around the town. Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport is a 1.5-hour drive south.
