About Camiguin

Surrounded by the Bohol Sea, Camiguin is an island off the northern coast of Mindanao and one of the smallest provinces in the Philippines. It’s home to lush jungles, natural springs and active volcanoes, as well as lanzones, a tropical fruit celebrated during the annual Lanzones Festival.

Things to do in Camiguin

Whether you want to hike to the summit of an active volcano or descend to explore vibrant coral reefs, Camiguin is an adventure traveller’s paradise.

Relax in the Ardent Hot Springs. Camiguin’s most popular hot springs are surrounded by jungle and are located south-west of the capital, Mambajao. Fed by a natural waterfall heated by the island’s volcanoes, the pools are the perfect temperature for a long soak. You can dine at the on-site restaurant while watching the steam rise off the water or plunge into one of the complex’s cold pools.

Photograph the Tuasan Falls. An easy walking trail leads to the base of this impressive waterfall, which plunges 20 metres into a refreshing swimming hole framed by greenery. You can combine your visit with a stop at the nearby Sto Niño Cold Spring where you can float, slide and swim.

Go diving on the Burias Shoal. Comprising spectacular reefs and steep walls, the Burias Shoal is a diver’s paradise off the coast of Camiguin. In addition to black snappers, barracudas and long-nose emperors, its coral bommies provide habitat for colourful soft corals.

Hike to the summit of Mount Hibok-Hibok. Forming part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, Mount Hibok-Hibok is an active volcano and one of Camiguin’s most popular hiking destinations. In addition to offering spectacular views across the island, the mountain is dotted with hot and cold springs where you can relax along the way.

Getting around Camiguin

Camiguin Airport is the only aviation gateway to the province and has regular flights to Cebu and Manila. Ferries connect from Jagna on Bohol to Benoni and Balbagon on the coast of Camiguin while jeepneys travel around the island. Renting a motorbike is the most convenient way of exploring Camiguin.
