About Čiovo

Postcard-perfect beaches and a rich cultural heritage make Ciovo one of the most rewarding holiday destinations in Croatia. Bask on the pebble beaches, swim in the Adriatic Sea and explore charming Dalmatian villages dotted across the island. Centuries-old churches and monasteries appeal to history buffs.

Things to do in Čiovo

Okrug Gornji stretches for two kilometres and is fringed by silver pebbles and crystalline water. Also known as Copacabana, the beach is drenched in more than 2,600 hours of sunshine per year. Cafes and restaurants line the shoreline and serve Dalmatian specialities like “riba na gradele” grilled fish and “brodet” seafood stew. Wash down your meal with a glass of Plavac Mali, a robust red wine grown along the Dalmatian coast.

The Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica slings to rugged stone cliffs overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The church dates back to the 1500s and is one of the island’s most evocative historic sites. Nearby is Slatine, a picturesque fishing village surrounded by lush pine forests. Arbanija is another popular village turned resort, with quiet beaches, whitewashed houses and plenty of Dalmatian charm.

A causeway spans across the channel and connects Ciovo with the island city of Trogir. Surrounded by ancient medieval walls, Trogir feels like stepping into a European fairy tale. The UNESCO-listed old town is filled with beautiful Renaissance and Romanesque buildings. Some of the oldest date back to the 13th century. Get lost in the maze-like streets before strolling down to the breezy seaside promenade.
