About Coney Island

Located on the banks of the Ohio River just outside Cincinnati, Coney Island is a family-friendly amusement and water park. There is a range of rides geared towards all ages, as well as the world’s largest recirculating pool and an interactive water play area known as Typhoon Tower.

Coney Island includes classic rides such as a carousel and Ferris wheel, as well as bumper cars, bumper boats and a bungee trampoline. There are also giant slides and “The Python” roller coaster, together with the “Scream Machine”, the “Wipeout” and a “River Runner” swinging ship. Miniature boats, planes and trains have been designed specifically for young guests, while there is a large swimming pool and numerous water slides for all ages to cool off. Live entertainment shows are presented throughout the day, with swim lessons and aqua-aerobics classes held over the summer months. Coney Island also hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Appalachian Festival and the Cincinnati Celtic World Festival.

Coney Island is located to the south-east of Cincinnati and connected by public buses which stop near its entrance. There is also plenty of parking available on site for those coming by private vehicle.

Coney Island’s history dates back to 1867 when James Parker purchased the riverside land for an apple orchard, but he soon discovered that it was more profitable as a recreational destination and constructed a dancing hall and bowling alley. He sold it twenty years later to the Ohio Grove Corporation who opened “The Coney Island of the West”, with riverboat the most popular means of getting to and from the park.
