Grand Junction is the main hub of Colorado's wine country, home to the highest altitude vineyards in the United States. Embark on a scenic drive to explore some of the wineries that dot the region, many of which boast spectacular mountain or desert backdrops.

Experience the rich history of Colorado at the Museum of the West where you can step aboard a 1958 Cessna or vintage stagecoach and admire artefacts belonging to the ancient Anasazi people. See old Winchesters and Civil War carbines in the Thrailkill Firearms Gallery and wander through a recreation of early Grand Junction featuring a school, opera house and saloon.

Step back in time to explore the world of dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Journey Museum in the nearby town of Fruita. It boasts an outstanding collection of fossilised dinosaur bones, including one of the largest triceratops skulls ever found, as well as an earthquake simulator and a replica quarry where you can hone your paleontological skills.

Grand Junction is a gateway to the Colorado National Monument, a spectacular red sandstone canyon dotted with scenic hiking trails. Photograph the famous rock formations, such as the Independence Monument and the Kissing Couple, and witness the waterfalls of No Thoroughfare Canyon during the spring run-off.

Getting around Grand Junction
