About Guiyang

Nestled on the banks of the Nanming River, Guiyang is a popular resort city with a pleasant climate and mountainous landscapes. Home to one of the country’s strongest minority enclaves, the region’s traditional culture can be explored through its historic sites, temples and museums.

Stroll around Qingyan Ancient Town and admire its ancient architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Admire the craftsmanship of the various historic sites, such as the three-tiered wooden Jiaxiu Tower with traditional Chinese architecture. Sample rose candy from local vendors, a local delicacy dating back to 1874.

Take a break from the city to admire wildlife at the riverside Qianling Park, home to wild monkeys and birds. Inside the park is the Hongfu Temple, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the city, which boasts a bell tower weighing more than 1,360 kilograms.

Interested in the region’s history? Visit the Guizhou Provincial Museum to see a collection of fossils, handiworks and weapons. You can learn about prehistoric animals and ethnic cultures, the browse the historic relics, including bronze chariots, iron swords and a golden crown from the Ming dynasty.

Sitting 45 kilometers outside the city center, Huangguoshu Waterfall is one of the largest falls in East Asia. Marvel at the 78-meter-tall waterfall and even listen to its cascading water from a cave nestled in the rocky wall.

The most convenient way to get around Guiyang is by taxi or subway. There are bullet trains to Guilin, Nanning and Guangzhou, while Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is 30 kilometres from the city centre.
