Visit the 11th-century Ludlow Castle to see a range of medieval buildings with a varied history, featuring architectural features from the Norman, medieval and Tudor periods. You can explore many parts of the castle or climb one of the towers to enjoy sweeping views of the city and River Teme.

Visit Ludlow’s imposing St. Laurence Church, tucked away behind the main street, where you can climb 200 steps up its bell tower and admire its beautiful stained-glass windows. On sunny days, feed the ducks at Ludlow Millenium Green, a large green space ideal for a picnic.

Learn more about the local history at the Ludlow Museum. Its interactive audio-visual exhibits are great for entertaining the kids, while you’ll also get an educational look at the architectural and social history of the town through a fascinating collection of artefacts.

Getting around

Ludlow’s compact medieval streets are best explored on foot, although a car is needed to visit the surrounding villages. Ludlow station has connections to nearby Shrewsbury and Hereford and it’s a 3.5-hour train journey from London.
