Beach umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent and there are several cafes where you can dine throughout the day. Adjacent is Playa de las Dunas, a quieter beach with calm waters that are ideal for families. Further west lies the pine-backed sands of Playa de Alcor.

Sprawling to the east of Mazagon is Parque Nacional de Doñana, an important wetland reserve that provides habitat for migratory birds travelling between Europe and Africa. You can explore the park on its hiking and cycling trails, join a horse riding excursion or opt for an off-road guided tour.

To the west of Mazagon is the Jardín Botánico Dunas del Odiel, which is planted with species found between the mouth of the Guadiana River and the Cliffs of Barbate. Stretch your legs on the walking trails dotted with interpretive displays detailing the region’s plant life and its coastal adaptations.
