About Nyack

Its sandstone quarries were used to construct buildings in New York City before the arrival of the railway saw the village flourish into a suburb of the “Big Apple”.

Stroll through Nyack to admire the First Methodist Episcopal Church, a historic stone building with a pitched gable roof. Also of note is the Nyack Post Office, which exhibits a Classical Revival style. Nyack is also home to a Carnegie Library dating back to 1903.

In the heart of Nyack is the Edward Hopper House Art Center, which occupies the 1858-built home of the Realist painter. Learn about his life and legacy as you browse the personal belongings on display, together with works by local artists. In the summer months, live music concerts are held in the gardens.
