The historic town of Fermo is a gateway to the province. Handsome historic buildings frame Palazzo dei Priori, the bustling main square. Cafes, bars and restaurants spill onto the cobblestones and make the square a great place to sip espresso or enjoy aperitivo hour. Like most Italian regions, the Province of Fermo has a unique set of culinary traditions. Enjoy specialties like “Maccheroncini Di Campofilone” egg pasta topped with a wine-enriched meat ragu. Pair your meal with wine made from pecorino grapes grown in the Sibillini Mountains. Offida Rosso reds are made with locally grown Montepulciano grapes and have DOCG status. With hints of red fruit, chocolate and licorice, the bold wine pairs perfectly with rich dishes like “Coniglio in Porchetta” marinated rabbit stuffed with prosciutto.
