About Warwickshire

From visiting the birthplace of William Shakespeare to touring one of the world’s top rugby museums, Warwickshire offers a wide variety of sights, attractions and experiences. The county is set in the heart of the West Midlands and will charm you with its rolling hills and charming towns.

Things to to

The tiny market town of Stratford-upon-Avon attracts a constant stream of Shakespeare enthusiasts. Shakespeare’s Birthplace Museum occupies the childhood home of the legendary playwright and features exhibits on his life and legacy. Just outside the town centre is Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, a picturesque thatch-roof farmhouse where Shakespeare’s wife once lived.

Raised in the 1100s by William the Conqueror, Warwick Castle is one of Britain’s most impressive strongholds. The castle has been reimaged as a family-friendly theme park with falconry displays, jousting tournaments and an excellent wax museum.

Step back in time at the ruins of Kenilworth Castle, which fell to the Parliamentarian army during the English Civil War. Walking around the ruins of the ancient red sandstone castle, you’ll be retracing the footsteps of Tudor kings. The beautiful Elizabethan Garden is anchored by an elegant Carrara marble fountain.

Small but engaging, the Webb Ellis Rugby Football Museum charts the evolution of one of the world’s most popular sports. It’s packed with rugby memorabilia, including vintage jerseys and original balls manufactured by iconic brands like Gilbert. The ultra-modern World Rugby Hall of Fame will keep you entertained with interactive exhibits and multimedia displays.

Warwickshire is laced with scenic walking trails that showcase the picturesque West Midlands countryside. The 10-kilometre circular trail from Long Itchington is a local favourite and takes you along a section of the Grand Union Canal and past several atmospheric pubs.
