Things to do in Udon Thani
Don’t miss seeing the one-of-a-kind Red Lotus Lake, where the lotuses on the water open as soon as the sun hits them, creating a carpet of vibrant red across the Nong Han Kumphawapi Lake. You can hire a boat to explore the lake before sampling delicious Thai delicacies from stalls around the shoreline.
History lovers shouldn’t miss seeing the Phu Phra Bat Historical Park, which is best known for its unique rock formations, ancient drawings and revered shrines. Afterwards, venture out to Wat Pa Phu Kon, a popular hilltop Buddhist shrine with elaborate architecture and a 20-metre-long reclining Buddha statue made from white marble.

Getting around Udon Thani
Udon Thani Province is best accessed by flying into Udon Thani International Airport, which is about six kilometres from the city of Udon Thani. You can get around the city using tuk-tuks and taxis or by walking in certain areas, but a hired car or scooter is best for exploring the entire province.
