Visit Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden. Green thumbs shouldn’t miss a visit to the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden, which has won countless awards for its innovative design. In addition to its themed gardens where plants and trees from around the globe are showcased, it hosts martial arts demonstrations and cultural ceremonies. Highlights of the collection include more than 670 species of orchids and a cycad genebank.
Climb Big Buddha Hill. Also known as Wat Phra Khao Yai, this temple complex is home to an 18-metre-tall Buddha that offers sweeping views across Pattaya and Jomtien Beach. Climb the dragon-flanked staircase that leads to the top, where you can watch the monks in devotion before seeing the beautifully painted mosaic of the Pavilion Hall.
Cruise to Ko Lan. Located just off the coast of Chonburi Province, the idyllic island of Ko Lan boasts beautiful beaches and is topped by a Buddhist shrine. You can swim in the crystal clear waters that lap Tawaen Beach or explore the island’s tropical forest before dining at one of the waterfront restaurants.
Getting around Chon Buri
Chonburi Province is around an hour’s drive from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport. U-Tapao International Airport lies in the far south of Chonburi Province and has flights to destinations across Asia. Trains connect to Chonburi railway station and buses travel throughout the province.
