Stroll along Viale delle Terme to reach the historic centre, where Duomo di San Lorenzo dazzles with its 14th-century bell tower. Abano Terme has been luring visitors in with thermal pools since ancient times. Today many of the town's hotels house luxury day spas offering indulgent mud therapy sessions, full-body massages and anti-ageing treatments.

Set in sprawling grounds, Castello di San Pelagio traces its history back to the Middle Ages. Stroll around the beautifully manicured rose gardens, admire vintage hot-air balloons in the Museum of Flight History and enjoy fine wine and artisan food at the "Secret Garden" bistro.

The Butterfly House and Fairy Wood Butterfly Arc showcases the natural beauty of Italy's Veneto region. The highlight is an enormous butterfly house filled with lush tropical plants. Kids will love exploring the wooded nature trail dotted with delicate fairy statues.

Getting around

Abano Terme is easy to get around on foot, especially in the historic centre. Bicycles are also a popular way to see the town and the surrounding countryside. A rental car is best for exploring the Euganean Hills. Terme Euganee-Abano-Montegrotto, located in the nearby town of Montegrotto Terme, is the region's main train station.
