Immerse yourself in the world of technology at the Chiba Museum of Science and Industry, which focuses on how science is applied to different industries. Learn about the evolution of historical industries and hi-tech modern developments, then get hands-on in their Experimental Plaza and on-site workshop.

Soak up colourful displays and alluring scents while wandering through the Yatsu Rose Garden where hundreds of different varieties from around the world are showcased. It lies adjacent to the Yatsu-higata Tidal Flat where migrating birds rest and refuel before continuing their journey to Australia’s Boondall Wetlands.

Step into the fairytale world of Hans Christian Andersen at Andersen Park, which replicates the 19th-century Danish town where the author was born and raised. It’s home to a small petting zoo and children’s play area, as well as nature walking trails, a boating lake and interactive art museum.

Mingle with the locals while collecting clams at the Funabashi Sanbanze Seaside Park, which includes designated clamming fields, tennis courts and baseball fields. The grassy lawns backing the park have barbecue areas where you can cook your harvest while soaking up views of Mount Fuji.

Getting around

Funabashi is a 25-minute train ride from Tokyo and 50 minutes from both the Narita and Haneda international airports. Trains travel throughout Funabashi and buses access most of its attractions.
