Stroll along Rue Sainte-Catherine, a pedestrianised street lined with bars and restaurants. In summer, the street is decorated with rainbow flags and a canopy of colourful balls. Buskers and street performers add to the festive atmosphere. Patios spill onto the street and will tempt you with happy hour specials. Snack on French Canadian classics like “poutine” fries topped with gravy and cheese curds.

Browse designer boutiques and specialty shops strung along Rue Amherst. Many are housed in handsome Victorian buildings and shopfronts. The street is also dotted with antique stores where you can hunt for pre-loved treasures. Head to Atateken Street to revamp your wardrobe at hipster vintage stores.

Saint-Pierre-Apôtre Church towers over the Gay Village and features a beautiful Neoclassical façade. Admire the stained-glass windows imported from France and visit the Chapel of Hope dedicated to victims of AIDS.

Whether you’re looking for a casual beer, craft cocktails or a late-night party scene, you’ll find it in the Gay Village.
