About Nambour

From its native bushland parks to its flourishing arts and crafts scene, Nambour is an enchanting slice of the Sunshine Coast. The laid-back rural town is surrounded by lush tropical fruit plantations and silvery eucalypt forests.

Things to do

Every year thousands of music fans descend on Nambour for the annual Big Pineapple Music Festival. If you're not in town for the festival, you can still snap a selfie in front of the Heritage-listed Big Pineapple. First opened in the 1970s, the colourful icon is one of Queensland's most photographed attractions.

Held every Saturday and Wednesday, the Original Eumundi Markets are world famous. From hand-carved furniture and colourful artwork to artisan jewellery and organic fashion, it's one of Australia's top art and craft markets.

The Sunshine Coast is famous for its lush tropical crops, including ginger. Set in beautiful gardens, the Ginger Factory offers nature enthusiasts a unique glimpse at how ginger is grown, harvested and turned into tasty treats. The attraction is geared towards families with a boat ride, steam train and fantastic gift store.

Want to get up close with Australia's cuddliest native animal? Koala Park is laced with scenic bushwalking tracks where you can spot sleepy koalas snoozing in the gum trees. There are also playgrounds and picnic facilities on site, so why not make a day trip out of it?

The Nambour town centre is easy to navigate on foot, though you'll need a car to explore the rest of the Sunshine Coast. From Brisbane, the 100-kilometre drive to Nambour takes around one hour. Local trains also run from Brisbane to Nambour in around two hours.
