Things to do in Roses
Roses lures sunseekers in with its golden sand and cobalt blue water. There are a handful of Blue Flag beaches to choose from, including a two-kilometre stretch known as Roses Beach. Platja Palangres is another favourite, with shady picnic areas and crystalline water.
Roses is brimming with history. The old fishing port is a great place for a stroll, especially in the morning when local fishermen haul in their catch. You can also climb up to Trinity Castle, a 16th-century fort with incredible Gulf of Roses views.
The whitewashed village of Cadaques is less than 30 minutes from Roses. It sits on Catalonia's eastern tip and is known for its pebbly beaches, picturesque harbour and cobbled lanes. It's also home to the Dali House Museum, which is filled with quirky artwork, sculptures and memorabilia.
Stretch your legs in Cap de Creus, a scenic national park covering most of the peninsula. It's laced with coastal hiking trails to hidden bays, secluded coves and sandy beaches. Don't miss the walk to Cala Jugadora, a postcard-perfect inlet known for its aquamarine water and rocky cliffs.
Getting around Roses
Roses is compact and easy to get around on foot, while local buses access nearby beaches. Rental cars are a fast and easy way to explore the Costa Brava. Flights arrive at Girona–Costa Brava Airport, located a one-hour drive from Roses.
