Sightsee in Leicester. Home to a monumental cathedral where Richard III’s remains are interred, Leicester is the largest settlement in the East Midlands. Learn about the life and legacy of the former king at the King Richard III Visitor Centre and explore the ruins of the castle where he spent several years. The Peak District is also home to Conkers, a family-friendly attraction with an enchanted forest play area and a treetop walkway.

Visit Warwick Castle. Overlooking the River Avon, Warwick Castle was originally established as a wooden fort by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. Join a guided tour to explore its opulently decorated staterooms and view the armoury on display in the Great Hall before strolling the gardens designed by “Capability” Brown. In the dungeons, costumed actors bring to life the 15th-century War of the Roses.
