About Herzliya

Herzliya is an affluent, coastal city located 14 kilometres north of Tel Aviv, Israel. Popular with both tourists and locals, the city is famous for its white sandy beaches, vibrant bars and superb dining. Its proximity to bustling Tel Aviv makes the resort perfect for a weekend retreat.

Visitors can hire catamarans, paddleboards, kayaks or learn how to surf or dive. Those seeking more than beach fun can head to Apollonia National Park. Herzliya is easy to reach by car and simple to navigate once there. The city is accessible via the Coastal Highway which runs from Tel Aviv to Haifa and Ayalon Highway from Tel Aviv. Local bus services serve the seafront area of Herzliya Pituach and shared taxi vans cover the same route. Taxis, Uber and bicycle rental are also available.

Herzliya was named after Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism. In 1924, the area was a farming community with a mixed population of immigrants and longer-term residents. In 1960, when the local population reached 25,000, Herzliya was elevated to city status. These days, HerzliyaPituah seafront area of the city is one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Israel.
