Gordon Beach is regarded as Tel Aviv’s main beach hangout, where sun loungers and beachfront restaurants sit alongside soft sand, calm water and an outdoor gym. It’s part of an idyllic coastal cluster of five beaches and a central pier. Stroll along the beachfront promenade and duck into cocktail bars or head beyond the southernmost Geula Beach to explore the waterfront Charles Clore Park.

Do you love history? Make a beeline towards Jaffa Port, an ancient port in the Old City of Jaffa, which dates back as far as biblical times. Nowadays it’s a dining hub with exquisite restaurants and sidewalk cafes, along with souvenir shops and an old fishing harbour. Discover Israel’s war history at the Israel Defense Forces History Museum, which boasts artefacts, photographs and weapons from Israel’s military.

If you’re interested in wildlife, drive 20 minutes to Ramat Gan Safari, the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The self-drive zoo lets you cruise past savanna animals, such as elephants, white rhinos, lions and hippos. Kids will also love the amusement and thrill rides at Luna Park, which includes a Ferris wheel, bumper cars and multiple roller coasters.

Grab yourself a unique souvenir or treasure at Carmel Market, considered the heart of Tel Aviv. The city’s busiest street market is packed with stalls selling beachwear, designer accessories, fresh fruit and vegetables, electronics and local produce.

Getting around

Tel Aviv’s city centre is easily navigated on foot or bicycle, with many beaches and attractions clustered together. The city also has a local bus service and taxis for longer journeys.
